Temporary modular classroom facilities support Petroc
Following the success of Petroc’s Animal Care facility, the leading North-Devon institution engages Mister Modular for temporary classroom solutions, after a structural survey deemed existing facilities needed rapid replacement.
The tight timeline was compounded by logistical restrictions: the modules could only be delivered through the main car park, which needed to remain clear before the start of the new term. Additionally, the site had to be prepared for installation with minimal disruption to campus operations.
Solution
To meet the urgent timeline, a reliable network of local contractors and suppliers was engaged to prepare the site rapidly. The ground was excavated, levelled, and covered with aggregate, eliminating the need for traditional foundations.
A temporary support system was implemented to ensure stability, and a crane was used to lift the modules over boundary trees, overcoming site access limitations. Temporary ramps were also installed to ensure compliance with accessibility requirements.
Results
From initial consultation to project completion, the classrooms were ready to be utilised in just four weeks. The swift and efficient installation ensured minimal disruption to students and staff while providing high-quality, functional learning spaces.
By leveraging temporary support solutions and streamlined logistics, Petroc maintained continuity in its academic programmes without compromising safety or functionality.
Jason Quinn, Head of Estates commented on the process:
“After the success of the Animal Care Centre development, Mister Modular once again met our high expectations by delivering a high-quality solution in a short space of time.
Mike’s efficient approach and problem-solving ensured minimal disruption to our campus operations, allowing us to continue providing a safe and effective learning environment for our students.”
